Do newspaper endorsements help candidates?

I don't know the answer to that question, but I still find it interesting to know which candidates the Seattle papers, The New York Times, and even my home state of Idaho's newspapers endorse. Here are a few interesting newspaper endorsement resources concerning the 2008 election:
